Rockpool Safaris

We will guide you on a safari of Scilly's rockpools, exploring a hidden world of fascinating sea creatures, only accessible to us at low tide. After a short safety briefing, we will follow the tide out for 90 minutes of exploration and discovery. You will be shown the secrets of the intertidal zone, learning how to find and identify a wide range of weird and wonderful creatures. Be prepared to get wet! We often wade through shallow water to get to the most productive areas, so you may want to wear wellies, or shorts and shoes that you don't mind getting wet, preferably with good grip as the rocks can be slippery.

Do not worry, you don't need to bring any rockpooling equipment with you. We will provide rockpool guides and buckets made from 100% recycled plastic. Please do not bring nets with you as we prefer not to use them as they can have a detrimental effect on the fragile ecosystem. We will have trays set up so you can have a closer look at the fascinating creatures we find.

Scilly Rockpool Safaris is a true family venture - you will be lead by Scott and Samaya, with Orkney (10), Orli (6) and Dusky (3) on hand to expertly unearth a range of rockpool treasures.

Our rockpool safari location and meeting place will be provided to you within your confirmation email after booking. The location may change due to weather conditions, in which case you will be contacted ahead of your safari date with the new details. All our safari locations are within easy walking distance from Hugh Town, St Mary's.

Have a glimpse of what we may see..
